Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a progressive, degenerative disorder of the central nervous system, including the brain, the optic nerve, and the spinal cord. These are wrappings, composed of a fatty substance, that insulate the nerve fibers throughout the body. Sclerosis means hardening of tissue; multiple simply indicates many regions of tissue hardening. It seems that the body’s immune system malfunctions and produces antibodies that attack the myelin sheaths. Consequently, the sheaths are damaged, and the damaged areas develop scarring that leads to either distorted communication or lack of communication between the nerve endings. This may produce a multiplicity of symptoms, from slurred speech to vision problems to loss of mobility.
Damage is believed to be caused by the patient’s own immune system. The immune system attacks the nervous system.

Tears, fear, and darkness seemed to be with us every moment during the next few days. What happens now I wondered?

Knowing the healing power of nutrition, we sought the advice of a naturopathic doctor, in addition to seeing an oncologist. Heidi’s blood work revealed a very extreme phosphorous-calcium ratio, very low iron, and other poor markers. Recommendations were given to stop drinking sodas and increase plant-based foods. Each week the tumor shrunk dramatically. The oncologist was amazed. Heidi took the winter term off for the therapy and to concentrate on “internally” building her body. Only two and a half months later at her final checkup, the doctor said, “As far as I am concerned, you are healed.” These words will never be forgotten. Today Heidi is fine, fit, a physical therapist, and the mother of three little boys. Thank you, Lord!

Heidi’s Journey …
The most difficult thing I faced along this journey was actually being given the diagnosis of cancer. Sure, I drank too much diet soda and taxed my body with excessive exercise and minimal sleep, but in my mind I was invincible, after all I was a “healthy” twenty-year-old college student.
Reflecting back on my walk through cancer, I can honestly say many lessons were learned. I learned to trust God with every aspect of my life, to balance my passions including exercise, and to treat my body as the temple God has made it to be. To this day, I have a great respect for the human body and its ability to heal itself given the proper nutrition and exercise. I realize that regardless of our age, physical condition, or genetic makeup each of us is susceptible to disease. It is our responsibility to keep our bodies strong so that when faced with disease, we can resist it.
Like my mother, I have a passion to pass this information on to others, about BarleyLife and excellent nutrition… and for me this begins at home. While my three boys are still young, ranging from five to nine years old, I daily instill in them the importance of nutrition. In fact, BarleyLife is the first thing we drink in the morning and the first thing my boys ask for when they start to feel sick. As a mother, that makes me smile. My husband, Mike, and I raised three children, Tim, Heidi, and Bryan, all of whom were high-level athletes.
It was around Christmas of 1991 while on a family vacation that the health of our daughter Heidi took a terrible turn for the worse. Her neck started to swell. Within hours, she had a lump the size of a tangerine. We immediately took her to the emergency room.
A few days later, we received the diagnosis that Heidi had Hodgkin’s disease—cancer of the lymphatic system—and a sizeable tumor near her thyroid.
It was devastating and unbelievable. Heidi was a sophomore at the academic top of her class at Oregon State University. She was also an amazing dancer and a strong gymnast with the determination of an Olympic athlete. How could she have cancer?
Tears, fear, and darkness seemed to be with us every moment during the next few days. What happens now I wondered?
The scripture “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength” helped calm me.
In February 2015 I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis. My bone density was 38.2mg/cc.After consulting with Leone Smith (AIM Director, Bethlehem), I started using Renewed Balance Cream, CalciAIM and Barleylife. All my life I have been plagued with fever blisters on my lips and once, nearly 40 years ago, I got shingles on my arm and thought I was going to die. Multiple Sclerosis
MS is an autoimmune disease that progressively damages the nerves of the brain and spinal cord. It is an inflammatory, demyelinating condition of the central nervous system (CNS). Any sensory or motor (muscular) function in the body may be affected by the nerve damage. White matter tracts are affected, including those of the cerebral hemispheres, infratentorium, and spinal cord. MS lesions, known as plaques, may form in CNS white matter (in any location). Continuing lesion formation in MS often leads to physical disability and, sometimes, to cognitive decline. In MS the myelin sheath that wraps around the nerve axon is destroyed by inflammation and scarring.
ALS (Lou-Gerigh’s disease)
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. A-myo-trophic comes from the Greek language. “A” means no. “Myo” refers to muscle, and “Trophic” means nourishment – ‘No muscle nourishment’. When a muscle has no nourishment, it “atrophies” or wastes away. “Lateral” identifies the areas in a person’s spinal cord where portions of the nerve cells that signal and control the muscles are located. As this area degenerates it leads to scarring or hardening (sclerosis) in the region. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. Thus.. progressive degeneration of the neurons. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, people may lose the ability to speak, eat, move and breathe.
Prostate Health
Prostate problems are ever on the increase, affecting younger males, nowadays many beginning in their thirty’s. About one half of males will probably have prostate problems by the time they are 60, and the majority by the time they are 65. These problems can range from mild inflammation, to infections, to chronic hypertrophy (enlargement), to growths and possibly cancer.
It is my belief that many of these prostate problems are the result of a lack of proper nourishment. We must keep in mind that good prostate health is tied to good general health.
The prostate gland in men is about the size of a walnut and develops as the male child develops. This gland is located below the bladder, and it surrounds the urethra, the tube through which urine flows from the bladder. When it is enlarged, it can push against the urethra, pinching it and causing it to narrow.

What is Candida
Candida, also known as candidiasis, is a common yeast infection which can lead to many health problems from a sore throat to serious stomach problems. Although the body normally produces yeast in the mouth, vagina, rectum and digestive tracts, in normal amounts it remains harmless. However, if the body’s natural pH balance is upset, candida can quickly grow out of control.
There are over three hundred different types of yeasts and fungi that live on or in the human body. These organisms live symbiotically, that is, they are actually beneficial to the human body. It is only when these organisms get out of hand that they can cause problems. The most prolific of the yeasts is Candida Albicans. Its favourite residence is the gastro-intestinal tract from mouth to rectum. The genitourinary tract and female genitals are also preferred. A study by Chew and Theus in 1967 showed that 100% of adults studied were supporting colonies of Candida Albicans and were all in perfect health! It is only when Candida gets out of control that problems arise. Candida overgrowth clearly results in people whose immune system have been compromised
If you are suffering from headaches, inability to concentrate, chronic fatigue, sugar cravings, rashes and stomach problems you may be suffering from an over-production of yeast and candida. A common symptom is thrush, which is an overgrowth of yeast in the mouth and/or vagina. If left untreated, candida will weaken the immune system allowing more serious disease to take hold.
